Betway’s head trader Danny Hart gives his top tips on the third night of the Betway Premier League Darts…
Dave Chisnall v Michael van Gerwen.
Chizzy is unbeaten so far but surely this is going to come to an end on Thursday when he meets World Number One, Michael van Gerwen. So far so good for the champ as he beat Robert Thornton last week and I can see him making light work of Chizzy in week 3 of the Betway Premier League. Van Gerwen will score heavier and is more reliable on the doubles which is going to be too much for the man from St Helens. Michael van Gerwens odds are very low, around the 2/5 mark, so Correct scores are the best way to go.
Correct Score – MvG to win 7-2 – 13/2
Correct Score – MvG to win 7-3 – 4/1
Robert Thornton v Gary Anderson.
An all Scottish affair for week 3 which sees Gary Anderson looking for back-to-back wins. Robert Thornton has had two losses so far but he has been unlucky and gave MvG a tough match last week. Anderson averaged over 98 in Week 2 and crushed The Wizard 7-2. Most will project an easy victory for Anderson but I’m backing the contrary. Thornton is an underrated player and personally I think he can get the better of the Scot.
Match Winner – Thornton to beat Anderson – 8/5
Peter Wright v Phil Taylor.
Without a win to his name in the Betway Premier League thus far, Phil Taylor is entering new territory. After two matches and two defeats, will he feel the pressure this week in Belfast? Personally I think Taylor will come through this one. He will be focused and desperate for the win, and with Wright not performing very well last week, this may be the match Taylor needs to get the monkey off his back and steady the ship with a win. Wright has proved in the past that he can perform on the big stage and although I think Taylor will win, this one will be a close affair. Not much value on a Taylor Match Winner punt so your best bet here is the Correct Score:
Correct Score – Taylor to win 7-5 – 11/2
Wes Newton v Adrian Lewis.
Newton got the better of Barney last week and Adrian Lewis belted Phil Taylor 7-3. Looking at the form of both players, there can only be one winner here, Adrian Lewis. He is throwing some great darts and looks very comfortable on the stage, and although Newton will take confidence from last week, this looks a tough ask to follow up with another win. I am predicting a big win for Lewis. Match odds for Lewis won’t bring you huge returns so big Correct Score options seem the play for me. The obvious double is MvG and Lewis to win in week 3 at around Evens but for this match I am going with…
Correct Score – Lewis to win 7-1 – 9/1
Correct Score – Lewis to win 7-2 – 6/1
Raymond van Barneveld v Simon Whitlock.
Which Barney will turn up? Week One Barney was unstoppable and would have beaten anyone, but last week he struggled to score heavy enough and Wes Newton was a deserved winner. The Wizard has now lost his first two matches and needs to get off the mark soon, can he beat Barney? I don’t think so, and I’m going for a Barney win in this one.
Match Winner – RvB to win – 4/5
